Haku was silent in the serene forest, not breaking the tomb-like calm of nature that was unspoiled by man’s advances into the unknown. His only concern was the large patch of flowers in-between the towering trunks. Small, violet flowers stained with shocks of dark blue bleeding out from the center. Beautiful little things, really. Rare and fragile, too. He picked each one with infinite care.
It was funny how they were so soft and seemed so easy to break, so innocent and bright. Funny and…at the same time, very disturbing…because it was from these little delicate flowers that an extremely deadly poison was made. Any animal stupid enough to eat one of the “innocent” flowers dropped dead the next morning.
Amazing how something so small, so sweet…could be so very dangerous. But then, it didn’t surprise him. He’d seen such truths before.

Sayuri was rested against a branch in one of the trees above the boy below her. She lay on her stomach against the cold hard wood and smiled down at him. "Hello there," she spoke softly.

Haku jolted, surprised that he hadn't noticed the others' approach...had he really been that far into his musings or was she simply just that skilled at concealing her presence? He looked up at her, warily, resisting the instinct to fall into a defensive stance.
"Hello." Haku replied, just as softly. He moved back, just an inch, and wondered if he should ask who she was or attempt to leave for fear of being questioned himself.

Shikamaru slowly approached the area. He himself was just going through the village just to head back to his own. He halts when he see's Haku and Sayuri in the distance. " Hm? "

Her eyes darted quickly from the boy picking flowers to the boy passing. She smiled a knowing smile, but there was an odd look in her eyes. She could feel Haku tense. She lay completely relaxed on the branch. "Sayuri Uchiha." she introduced herself, speaking with that soft tone again, and stopped concealing her chakra.

Haku eased up a little more as she relaxed...though he didn't let down his guard completely. Still, the fact that she was no longer concealing her chakra was probably a good thing. He nodded and, after a pause, remembered his manners. "...My name is Haku." He replied, just as quietly.

Now that he thought about it, Haku could also sense another source of chakra in the area. They didn't seem to be connected, this girl and it, but...one could never be too careful.

"Haku... it seems quite familiar." she smiled a little, lolling on the branch like she was a snake. "You remind me of a mouse. Timid and jumpy, knowing the snake is about to eat it for lunch!" she laughed under her breath. "Relax. What are you doing out here on your own?"
