“I’ll take that as a compliment.” He shrugged. “There’s not much point, wondering what could’ve been. There are many hands that fate might’ve dealt us. But yeah, who knows? You could’ve found your way to the Sound regardless, or we could’ve ended up on the same side, as teammates.”

"True... but chances are I would've come to Sound no matter what. Maybe you would've come with me," she added, "hell, your still welcome here if you want. We're always willing to let interesting people like you join."

Sayuri had slunk around the edges of the buildings, in what ever shadows she could have found in the bright daylight. It was so unusual to see the Sound Village like this - Sayuri though they were mostly happy because Kioku wouldn't have much reason to kill them. At this, she smiled a little in spite of herself, and scuffed her sandal at the floor.
The young girl had left her baby boy Ryuu with his father today; just for today. Then, she would probably go home and spend some quality time with her boys, taking a break from the wars that were happening, and probably just visiting every now and then.
Clearing her head of these thoughts, Sayuri crept up behind Shia, her hands ready to cover her eyes.

SHia had been quietly enjoying the free ice cream she got by threatening a merchant that she 'knew Kioku'. She jumped, nearly screamed, but somehow kept hold of her ice cream when Sayuri covered her eyes. "What?! Wha-- Sayuri! That's you, isn't it, damn it?!" She pulled Sayuri's hand down and spun around.
Suddenly a smirk spread over her face. "Sa-yu-ri-chaaan.." She sung, teasingly. "ice in pants time!" Shia began wildly chasing Sayuri about, squealing like a ten-year-old.

Roka chuckled. Yes, she was definitely Orochimaru's follower. Always ready to accept another student to train (re: brainwash) in the ways of their little quest. "An interesting offer, and I'm sure you are, but I already have a village and a life. I'm not a deserter, lost soul, or a missing nin like most of the people your master has taken in. Besides, my family and your leader aren't exactly on the best terms, and I can't discard my loyalties as easily as some."

"And thats why I can stand being around you and consider you a friend," Kioku smiled, "your loyal. Not enough people are."

“Likewise. Something we have in common, I guess.” Roka answered, returning the expression and the strange, but sincere sentiment. Not to the same people or cause, but it was something they could both understand and respect.

"What are you doing in Sound anyway? I just cant imagine you coming all this way for my birthday. Trying to get a little spying in?" she asked with a small smirk.
