White hair, different eyes, but otherwise looked like him? Haku had seen him in his demon form, then. Though, the fact that he was drowning at the time was kind of a dead give away. Roka arched an eyebrow when Sayuri smiled. Drowning wasn't -funny-, was it?
Hn. A little boy drowning? The only time he could remember saving anything was some guy's pet dog...and...a little girl. Uh, then again, that 'girl' looked suspiciously like... "I think I remember that. Did you own a pet rabbit, by any chance?"

Receiving the expression Roka had given her, Sayuri blushed a little. She must have looked crazy smiling at the thought of drowning. She looked at Haku instead to hear his answer.

"Yeah! I had a white rabbit...named...snow puff." Haku sweatdropped at his own inability to name the bunny properly. "It ran away and I was chasing after it that night. That's why I was near the docks. And...we met again after that, too."
It was coming back. Slowly, but he remembered seeing the half-kappa after that night. A couple of days later he saw him at this lake...

“Yeah…you helped me out of that net, didn’t you?” Roka nodded, as the haze steadily cleared like the fog of the village. “And…after that, we were friends.” He smiled. It was only a few weeks in their childhood. Just a few days spent playing, some helping each other train, but Haku had been the first person who accepted him, both a human and a stranger, for who he was. That left an impression on his life he really didn’t know was even there.
“…Ro-kun, right?” His nose wrinkled at the nickname.

Haku laughed and retorted, "Well, at least it sounds better than Ku-chan."
(I know I started this detour, but are we going to get back to our life stories soon?)

Roka smirked playfully. "Well, you still look like a 'Ku-chan' to me...but I'll be nice and refrain from calling you that. It's good to see you again. I never really understood why you just left like that, without saying goodbye."
((Fine by me.))

“I didn’t mean to, but it couldn’t be helped.” Haku sighed and looked over the misty pond in thought. “My life changed.”
